Summary The primary purpose of housekeeping is to maintain assigned areas in a clean, sanitary, safe, orderly, attractive manner in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Essential Functions oPerforms housecleaning and other household services such as vacuuming, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, scrubbing, sweeping, glass cleaning, etcoCompletes daily task sheet and returns sheets to supervisor weeklyoEmpties wastebaskets daily and monitors assigned floor for cleanlinessoDusts furniture and desktops on weekly scheduleoMaintains hospital property, supplies and equipment in a manner that demonstrates ownership and accountabilityoParticipates in all in-services; assists in training new staff on routine proceduresoMaintains the work area to reduce the likelihood of safety hazards and to enhance its general appearance; reports potential hazards to supervisor immediatelyoPerforms cleaning/sanitizing procedures upon patient discharge, preparing room for a new patientoKeeps utility, storage, and linen rooms in orderly conditionoPerforms other duties as assignedPhysical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hearThe employee frequently is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and armsThe employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 poundsSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focusThe employee must have a sense of smellRequired Education and Experience oHigh School Diploma or equivalent (GED)o1-year previous experience as a housekeeper, preferably in healthcare.
Required Skills and Certifications oMust have knowledge of terminal cleaning procedures.
